Susan Carol Associates PR Expands Events Expertise
Jeri Phillips joins firm as events marketing specialist

STAFFORD, VA, June, 2005 -- Jeri Phillips of Spotsylvania has joined Susan Carol Associates Public Relations as an events marketing specialist. Phillips brings an extensive background in special events, public relations, fundraising and sales to this internationally known company.

Her first project with Susan Carol Associates was coordinating grand opening activities for the Krispy Kreme retail store in Central Park. The activities included five major events: a "Digging for Dollars" ground-breaking that benefited local non-profits, a preview party for invited guests, opening day entertainment for the public, Kid's Day and Faith Day.

"Jeri is well connected in the region and was able to introduce Krispy Kreme to community leaders for which they were most grateful," said SCA President Susan Carol. "She is also resourceful and attentive to details which is critical in event planning on any scale."

From 1994-2003, she worked with the Fredericksburg Regional Chamber of Commerce, where she was instrumental in doubling membership through membership drives, sales incentive programs and redesigning print materials. Phillips also worked with membership retention and grand openings.
Previously, she was director of public relations for Maymont Park in Richmond, where she coordinated marketing for the 1,000 acre Victorian Estate and Nature Center. She appeared regularly on local news programs and published a monthly newspaper for Maymont members.

Phillips was director of marketing earlier in her career for the Virginia Marine Science Museum in Virginia Beach, where she developed corporate and public fundraising programs, designed direct mail and print advertising pieces and actively participated in the strategic planning for a $30 million dollar expansion.
Phillips received her bachelor of arts degree in journalism and political science from Illinois State University.
